Contract with America

What ever happened to the Contract with America? I think its time we canceled our contract with them for failing to live up to their agreements.

1. They pledged to "restore the bonds of trust between the people and their elected representatives," and what have the done but created a culture of corruption. As I wrote in the last post our congressman has contributed highly to this.

2. The Republicans swore that "government that is too big, too intrusive, and too easy with the public's money," was bad and they were going to shrink the government. To say that the failed on this one is an understatement. The federal government is now bigger then it has ever been. The Patriot Act allows near total government intervention into our daily lives. They can check our records, listen to our phone calls, intrude live never before. And now more then ever interferes with the economy.

3. They promised us term limits, yeah that happened.

4. Republicans pledged to "restore accountability to Congress" Again, what happened here? The government has gone unchecked like it has never been before. Pork barrel spending is at an all time high. The executive branch has been able to run up deficits unimaginable, done activities that most would consider unethical and illegal, and not to mention going to war under false pretenses.

5. The interest of the American people have not been looked after, which was the point of the contract.. Millions of jobs have been lost, millions don't have health care, and millions of people are without proper pensions.

6. There was suppose to be middle class tax relief, yet all tax cuts have gone to the wealthy one percent. No tax credit for children no American dream savings account. What went wrong?

7. The contract was suppose to enhance wages, yet it failed. The minimum wage is worth less then it was over twenty years ago. The average person is having to do more with less.

I ask that we nullify the contract.
